An HR manager at a company with 300 employees was looking for communication training for the leadership team. Instead of browsing provider directories, they asked ChatGPT: "Which training companies specialise in soft skills for managers?" They got four specific suggestions with a short description of each provider's specialisation. Three firms received a request for proposal. One - the one AI did not name - did not.

The B2B training market runs to thousands of firms, from single trainers to large institutions. With that level of fragmentation, AI Visibility can be the deciding factor in whether a company reaches a client's shortlist or does not exist for them at all. And most training companies have not yet registered the change.

How do training buyers search through AI?

Queries from training buyers have characteristic patterns - they usually contain the training topic, the target group or the sector. Examples of real queries:

  • "Which training companies do you recommend for B2B sales training?"
  • "Best leadership training for managers"
  • "Who delivers Excel training for finance teams?"
  • "A training company specialising in the manufacturing sector"
  • "How do I choose a training company for warehouse staff?"
  • "AI and new technology training for managers - who would you recommend?"
  • "Certified project management training"

The key observation: most questions contain either a specific topic, a specific target group or a sector. A training company describing itself as offering "comprehensive training for business" does not answer any of those questions. Specialisation is a necessary condition of visibility in AI.

The biggest barriers for training providers

Analysing dozens of training company websites reveals three recurring problems that together explain why AI does not recommend them:

  1. 1A catalogue of topics instead of a specialisation - the site lists 50 different training topics from communication to Excel. That looks fine to a client already browsing a catalogue. To AI it signals no specialisation - the model does not know what the company is genuinely good at.
  2. 2No content showing methodology or results - most training companies publish nothing showing what their training looks like, what participants take away or what outcomes they achieve. AI has nothing to cite.
  3. 3Absence from the places where decision-makers look for recommendations - HR groups on LinkedIn, management forums, leadership podcasts. That is where the decision-makers are and where recommendations are made. Absence equals invisibility.

Five actions a training company should implement

  1. 1Choose and communicate two or three specialisations - rewrite the home page so the first sentence makes clear who you serve best and at what. "We specialise in sales training for B2B technology and industrial companies" is a sentence AI can cite against a specific query. A general offer for everyone works in directories, not in AI.
  2. 2Create a results section with data - how many companies have been through the training, what was measured, what participants say. The format: numbers plus participant quotes plus sector context. "92% of participants in our sales training report changing at least one element of their sales process" is worth publishing.
  3. 3Publish case studies of closed-cohort training - a description of training for a specific client, anonymised or named with consent: sector, initial problem, programme, results after three months. This is distinctive content AI readily cites on questions about training effectiveness.
  4. 4Expert activity from trainers on LinkedIn - every trainer should publish regularly on LinkedIn within their specialisation. Not training offers, but specific advice, observations from practice and commentary on trends. Trainers with a recognisable sector identity are the strongest AI Visibility signal a training company has.
  5. 5Collect reviews describing outcomes - on Google and LinkedIn, ask participants for reviews describing specifically what they learned and how they applied it. "After the Excel training our team cut reporting time by 40%" is a citable fact.

Open courses versus closed cohorts

Training companies running mainly open courses for individual participants and those focused on closed cohorts for companies need somewhat different AI Visibility strategies. For open courses, the priority is visibility on queries from people searching for themselves - "the best project management training". For closed B2B cohorts, the priority is visibility on queries from HR decision-makers and managers - "a training company for a whole sales team".

The content strategy should follow: for open courses, practical guides addressed to the individual participant are valuable. For closed B2B cohorts, content addressed to the decision-maker - how to organise training for a team, how to measure training outcomes, how to choose a provider.

An example from the market

A training company specialising in management competencies built AI visibility over five months through three parallel actions: redefining its specialisation on the site (from generic "soft skills training" to "training for first-line managers in manufacturing companies"), a blog with 12 articles describing that group's specific problems, and LinkedIn activity from the founder writing about the challenges facing specialists promoted into their first management roles.

The effect: the company appears in ChatGPT and Perplexity results on questions about management training for the manufacturing sector. Several requests for proposal a month come from clients who found the firm through AI - a new channel that did not previously exist.

Frequently asked questions

How can trainers build AI Visibility?

By publishing substantive articles on LinkedIn and building personal authority that is linked to the company brand.

Does a training catalogue help with AI SEO?

A catalogue alone is not enough. AI needs expert content and descriptions of methodology before it treats a company as worth recommending.
